Unless you have kids of your own, it’s hard to understand just how difficult it is to be a single parent.
I love it when friends of mine have a baby for the first time, because it doesn’t take long for them to ask me, “Oh my gosh, how on earth did you do this alone!? It’s so hard!”
The truth is, it was incredibly hard, and it felt like the struggle would never end. When you’re in the middle of a storm, it’s hard to imagine a way out.
But I got through it. In fact, it was a blessing, because it taught me so much about my own strength and helped me realise that no matter the situation, the storm does pass eventually. I promise.
Before you know it, the wild winds will stop, and the sun will come out. If you’re lucky, you may even see a rainbow.
If you’re going through a tough time right now, please know the struggle is temporary. This will pass – it always does. And most often, what awaits on the other side of the storm is something truly amazing.
Remember that you can’t enjoy the rainbow without enduring the rain, so ride it out and look forward to the sunshine. You’ve got this!
